Avoid Essona Rent a Car in Sri Lanka.
This was one of the worst car rental experiences I have ever had. We had agreed in advance on a smaller car for $30 per day. The company knew we urgently needed a vehicle, yet at the very last moment they told us the car was unavailable and pushed a more expensive Honda Shuttle at $38 per day. We had almost no time to find another rental, so we were forced to accept. After just TWO DAYS, the air conditioning broke down. Travelling around Sri Lanka in that heat without air conditioning was unbearable. Did the company provide a replacement? NO. Did they promptly fix the problem? NO. Did they offer any compensation or reduce the rental price? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Instead, we were dragged through endless discussions, delays and broken promises. Our travel plans were ruined, we lost valuable holiday time and had to pay extra for transport. The company also failed to reimburse the difference in the return transportation cost after the collection location was changed. They returned only the additional distance surcharge. The worst part was the complete lack of responsibility towards the customer. You pay for a car expecting a trouble-free holiday, but if something goes wrong, you may be left stranded, stressed, out of pocket and fighting just to get a fair resolution. My advice: DO NOT RENT FROM ESSONA RENT A CAR. There are other companies. Choose one that actually takes responsibility for its customers.
