1. About Trustme

Trustme.lk ("Trustme", "we", "us") is an open platform where people share their own experiences of businesses and websites in Sri Lanka. We collect these reviews on behalf of the public so that others can get a broad picture of a business and shop and do business more safely.

Trustme does not write, buy or edit reviews. We do not list businesses on our own initiative: any visitor can add a website so it can be reviewed. Contact: [email protected].

2. Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to create an account.
• One person may have one account. Give true information and confirm your email address before your reviews are published.
• Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what is posted from your account.
• You can sign up with email and password or with Google.

3. Writing reviews

• A review must be about your own genuine experience with that business, within the last 12 months. You can write one review per business and update it at any time.
• You can write a review before you log in. It is kept and published once you log in or confirm your new account.
• Reviews must follow our Review Guidelines. You can edit or delete your own review at any time.
• You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give Trustme a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to show, store and share your review, including in search results and in widgets on the reviewed business's website.
• Never accept payment, discounts or gifts in exchange for a review unless you say so in the review, and never review your own business or a competitor.

4. Our role: we are a platform

Reviews are the personal opinions of the people who write them. They are not the views of Trustme. We do not check every review before it is published and we do not guarantee that any review or rating is accurate, complete or up to date.

Each reviewer is solely responsible for what they write. Trustme only hosts the content and takes no responsibility for any review, rating, reply or company detail posted by users or businesses, for any decision you make based on them, or for any dealings between you and a business. Always use your own judgement before buying. If you believe content is illegal, email [email protected] and we will look at it promptly.

5. Businesses

• Any website can have a page on Trustme. Until it is claimed, the page shows only the domain name, its reviews and its rating.
• A business can claim its page for free by proving it owns the domain (DNS record, website tag, file upload, email at the domain, or documents we check by hand). Claimed businesses can add their name, logo, description and contact details, reply to reviews and use our widgets.
• Businesses cannot edit, delete, hide or pay to remove reviews, and their rating is calculated the same way as everyone else's.
• Businesses must not offer rewards for positive reviews only, write reviews about themselves, or pressure reviewers. Inviting all customers to review, good or bad, is welcome.
• If a business account is deleted or the page is released, the details it added are removed and the page goes back to its unclaimed state. Reviews, ratings and the domain name stay. Past public replies stay on the reviews they answered.

6. Reporting reviews

• Claimed businesses can report a review they believe breaks our guidelines. A reported review is hidden from the site while our team checks it.
• We then either restore it or remove it. A review we restore cannot be reported again by the business.
• Anyone can contact us about content they believe is illegal or harmful.

7. Widgets

Claimed businesses may embed Trustme widgets on their own verified website. Widgets must not be changed to show a different rating, and they must keep the link back to Trustme. We may switch off widgets that are misused.

8. What is not allowed

Fake or paid-for reviews, multiple accounts, automated sign-ups or scraping, spam, attacks on the site, impersonation, and anything illegal. We may remove content and suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, without notice.

9. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Your reviews are then removed. We may close accounts that have not been confirmed or used for a long time.

10. Liability

Trustme is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, from content posted by others, or from the site being unavailable. If a claim is made against Trustme because of something you posted or did on the site, you agree to cover the resulting costs. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version and we will give notice of important changes on the site. These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka and disputes are subject to the courts of Sri Lanka.
